2012 Spanish Formula One Grand Prix, Sparks Fire

Last Weekend, The 2012 Formula One Spanish Grand Prix took place at Circuit de Catalunya in Catalonia, Spain. The weekend had a mix of drama and surprise as Pastor Maldonado, Driver for Williams F1 Team, took at 1st followed by Fernando Alonso in 2nd and in 3rd Kimi Räikkönen and that completes the podium.

“The fire in the Williams pit took some of the shine off an excellent maiden victory by their driver Pastor Maldonado in the Spanish Grand Prix.” Says Gary Anderson, BBC F1 technical analyst.

Formula One, Heads to Spain

The up and coming Formula One Spanish Grand Prix will be taking place this weekend at Circuit de Catalunya, Catalonia, Spain. The track has a length of 4.655km  and consists of 16 corners, The fastest lap recorded on the track was by Kimi Räikkönen for Ferrari back in 2008 with a time of 1.21.670. The Moto GP is also held here, In 1991, Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell went down the entire front straight side-by-side while duelling for second place, with Mansell eventually taking the position and ultimately the race itself. Last years race, Sebastian Vettel beat Lewis Hamilton by a margin of 0.6sec and then Hamilton’s team mate, Jenson Button, came in 3rd.

This years race is a sure thing to bring entertaining and exciting viewing, and be interesting to see who will take out the win and gain those crucial championship points.
